The Project
e2m was engaged to assist BHP in updating and refining their closure domain, so that the required rehabilitation is better understood. This would require the current disturbance layer to be consolidated and then interrogated to determine the correct closure domain. The current disturbance layer is used for purpose of reporting on disturbance, not closure domain specific. As a result, there is a large volume of disturbance (~3,000ha) that has been categorised as ‘miscellaneous’.
Our Approach
e2m worked with BHP to understand what the key stakeholders required from the update. From this initial data discovery period, e2m analysed the data and created attribute rules and contingent values to ensure that data integrity was maintained during the update. The data was cleaned, removing overlaps and gaps that were not present in historic or current aerial imagery.
