The Project

As part of early-stage environmental approvals, the client sought to understand the potential impacts on threatened species – particularly the Julia Creek dunnart—and their associated biodiversity offset obligations. e2m was engaged to deliver targeted ecological assessments to support the Commonwealth approval documentation.

Our Approach

e2m worked as part of a multidisciplinary team to deliver targeted flora and fauna surveys focused on potentially occurring threatened species. We:

  • Conducted detailed ecological fieldwork to inform a technical ecological assessment and significant impact assessment.
  • Assessed habitat quality across the Study Area to support biodiversity offset planning.
  • Identified the presence of key threatened and migratory species, including the Julia Creek dunnart, black-tailed godwit, glossy ibis, and fork-tailed swift.
  • Delivered a preliminary ecological assessment report to inform early approvals strategy.

Outcomes

e2m’s assessments provided the client with a clear understanding of the ecological values within the Study Area and the potential implications for environmental approvals. Our findings directly informed offset planning and laid the groundwork for future Commonwealth submissions.
