The Project
e2m was engaged to assess offset suitability and undertake baseline ecological surveys and monitoring on a property near Dysart, in support of offset requirements for a nearby mining project. The surveys confirmed the presence of several Matters of National Environmental Significance (MNES) impacted by the mine, including koala, greater glider, ornamental snake, and the Brigalow threatened ecological community. We have been undertaking regular monitoring to confirm the progress of the offset management and condition, as well as the occupancy of the target threatened species.
Our Approach
Leveraging our deep regional expertise and integrated team of ecologists and regulatory specialists, e2m undertook a detailed investigation of the potential for Picardy Station to serve as a direct offset site. Our team conducted habitat assessments, targeted threatened species surveys, and BioCondition assessments to evaluate the site’s ecological value and alignment with offset requirements. Once the offset areas were confirmed, we developed and implemented a program of annual monitoring aligned with approval commitments.
Outcomes
Our team were able to confirm the presence of relevant MNES and therefre the suitability of the property to acquit the offset requirements for the project.
