The Project
Origin Energy recieved approval under the Commonwealth Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 for the Spring Gully North-West and North-East Project. The Project comprises construction, operation and decommissioning of coal seam gas fields totalling up to 114 coal seam gas wells and associated infrastructure in the Spring Gully North-West and North-East development areas. The Spring Gully offset area was identified as a suitable offset to acquit significant impacts to Matters of National Environmental Significance resulting from the Project. The Offset Area is situated on a 16,600 ha leasehold property located approximately 60 km west of Injune, Queensland. Performance criteria and associated management and monitoring actions for the offset area are detailed within the offset area management plan approved by the Commonwealth Government.

Our Approach
e2m was engaged to undertake necessary baseline monitoring as part of the Year 1 requirements under the offset area management plan. Monitoring requirements comprised survey and mapping of pest flora and fauna, photo-monitoring, groundcover biomass and fuel load assessments across the offset area.
Outcomes
Findings from the monitoring were utilised to inform management strategies on-site and performance criteria outlined in the OAMP as well as identify recommended actions for ongoing compliance and improvement in habitat quality and condition.
