The Project
This large-scale renewable energy project includes a solar array, substation, and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS and transmission line. Located near existing transmission infrastructure, the project is a critical contributor to Australia’s clean energy transition, aiming to deliver new generation capacity within four years. e2m was engaged to undertake field surveys, calculate offset obligations, prepare an Offset Area Management Plan (OAMP), prepare Commonwealth and State approvals documentation, and provide statutory planning approvals advice to support project delivery.
Our Services
e2m conducted multiple terrestrial ecology field surveys for both MNES and MSES focussing on verification and mapping vegetation communities and threatened species habitats.
These verification activities fed directly into the project definition process which resulted in a disturbance footprint being identified that avoided and minimised impacts on State and Commonwealth matters.
Outcomes
e2m’s involvement across multiple phases of the project demonstrates our capability to support the full ecological assessment lifecycle. From early-stage constraints identification and habitat verification to detailed MNES and MSES assessments, our team provided the insights needed to inform design decisions, reduce environmental impact, and streamline regulatory engagement. Our multi-step assessment process enabled the client to refine the project footprint—protecting high-quality habitat and minimising offset liabilities. Through extensive bioacoustic monitoring and field surveys, we confirmed the presence of key threatened species and identified suitable offset areas. Our ecological reporting and input into EPBC documentation have been submitted for Commonwealth review, positioning the project for approval. This engagement highlights e2m’s ability to deliver end-to-end ecological services that balance environmental integrity with project delivery timelines.
