Our values are more than a set of platitudes

Our values are more than a set of platitudes. We live and breathe them every day. In this interview, we ask Bonnie to share her insights to discuss how she’s views their importance to us, and what they mean to her.

We have 5 values at E2M. And they’re absolutely pivotal to how we live and deliver our services to clients every day.

Flock

At E2M, this means we respect and care for each other, we have each other’s backs, and everyone comes home to our ‘nest’ safely.  Safety is a serious issue and a major part of my role. It’s a priority for everyone because of the work we do. Making sure people are safe and enabled to do their job, and returned safely takes organisation and attention to detail. To me, Flock also represents keeping our office safe and happy. I’ve managed to negotiate a desk plant (a philodendron – I’m trying to take over the office with it). And I’ve added new plants to the meeting rooms too.

Reliable as the Sun

This means we deliver on our promises and deadlines, we show up and do a great job. At the end of the day, if I don’t do my job properly, then nobody else will be able to do theirs. Equally, being reliable is important for our suppliers. I represent E2M in the way I behave and interact with people and I am proud to do so. Leaving a positive impression makes a difference to perceptions of our brand and our business.

Pristine

This speaks to our ability to always have precision focus with absolute attention to detail. As Business Support Officer, if I book the wrong flights or transfers, the survey could be delayed or cancelled – both cost the business time and money and impact on our ability to deliver on our promises. There are so many variables and everything is subject to change, so being aware and diligent is critical.

Straight and tall

This is about our ability to tell things as we see them. At E2M we speak up when something doesn’t feel right instead of letting it build up. This approach is reinforced by the leaders being transparent and approachable. People don’t feel scared to raise issues. We also hire carefully to ensure personality and skills are aligned to our values. You could have all of the skill in the world, but if your values and attitude aren’t aligned, it could cause unnecessary disruption.

Light Hearted

We are a really fun bunch of people. We definitely don’t take ourselves too seriously, we bring a great attitude, and we’re bright positive and curious. Sometimes, we’ll go out for lunch together and we always have drinks on a Friday. This year is our 10th anniversary, so we’ve got some fun activities planned. Having a like minded group of people means we can and choose to hang out in or outside of work – it really is like working with your friends every day.
