What Does Quality Look Like at E2M?
At E2M, quality isn’t just a box to tick – it’s woven into everything we do. It reflects our core values of Pristine and Reliable as the Sun.
From the tools we use in the field to the way we review and submit reports, every step is designed to deliver consistency, clarity, and genuine care.
We sat down with Principal Ecologist Megan Ward, who leads our focus on quality, to uncover what truly sets E2M apart.
“Quality is embedded in every stage of the process,” Megan says. “From how we train staff to how we design our data collection forms, everything is set up to support high-quality outcomes.”
Investing in People and Tools
What distinguishes E2M is our readiness to invest – in both our people and the technology they use.
“I’ve worked at several consultancies over the years,” Megan shares, “but E2M’s commitment to effectively equipping staff is unmatched. Where others saw top-end gear as too costly, we see it as essential to delivering quality.”
“Another thing I love is how well-supported junior staff are,” she continues. “They’re not just thrown in the deep end. There’s structure, mentoring, and the tools to do the job properly. That’s not something I’ve seen everywhere.”
A Culture of High Standards
With eleven Principals on our team, we have a robust quality assurance process.
“There are so many steps involved in our work,” explains Megan. “The key is making sure every step is done properly. In the office, our Principals lead comprehensive reviews at every critical point – including desktop assessments, field survey planning, and staged reviews of the technical reporting. In the field, our custom digital data collection forms guide you on exactly what to record, so nothing is missed and every dataset is accurate and consistent.”
With a deep commitment to trust and quality, we continuously refine our systems — from updating our style guide to seamlessly integrating GIS and environmental analytics into our reports. Quality is a shared priority that drives us forward.
“Submitting less-than-excellent work risks delays and raises doubts about our integrity. If a report needs work, we’ll put in the time — rewriting every sentence if necessary. Everyone on the leadership team shares that commitment.”
At E2M, it’s not about perfection — it’s about genuine care. As Megan sums it up:
“Quality is part of our culture — it’s in how we work, how we train, how we show up for clients. We don’t settle for ‘good enough.’ We do it properly, or we don’t do it at all.”
