Who is E2M and why should you know about us?
There’s so much noise in the market and so many ecology and engineering consultancies competing for space. And we all say you should be working with us.
Of course, we’re great at what we do, but in this blog, we’re sharing a bit more about who we are, the team that leads us, our back story and culture so that you can dig a bit deeper and understand why it matters to us that you work with the best.
Yes, we’re ecologists. In fact, we’re the largest independent team of ecology consultants in Queensland.
We’re ecologists – so what?
Yes, we’re ecologists. In fact, we’re the largest independent team of ecology consultants in Queensland. Which is nice. But it’s about more than that for all of us.
Each one of the team has a deep-rooted passion for a different element of what we do. And while we all love ecology in a sometimes strangely geeky and inspiring way, we’re the Ying to each other’s Yang.
Here’s the leadership low-down.
Scott “Strategy” Baker – CEO
Scott is the founder of our organisation and all round visionary. Raised to respect the environment and with an innate love of the ocean, his passion for ecology knows no bounds. Turning his back on a budding career as an international soccer player, he turned his attention to shifting the landscape of professional services to deliver excellence in ecology. As a proud Husband, Dad, Ecologist and CEO, Scott believes in building a business where people’s lives, passions and purpose matters.
Brad “Catalyst” Dreis – CSO
Inspired by the field of flora and fauna, Brad is renowned and revered across the industry as a technical leader and wizard of all things ecology – and he’s our Chief Science Officer. Brad’s journey has taken him from engineering to environmental science and he’s our catalyst for making things happen. When he’s not studying his PhD and being a Dad, you’ll find Brad coaching and mentoring our team, working with our clients to navigate the dynamics of approvals and offsets or connecting with his vast network (and footy team).
Hannah “Ops Genius” Rowan – COO
Hannah makes the operational wheels turn in our business. She brings a down-to-earth pragmatism and warmth which makes her the ‘go-to’ person for making things happen with diligence and professionalism. As our Chief Operations Officer, Hannah leads people, process, governance, finance and compliance. She’s also a qualified ecologist and you’ll sometimes find her fine honing her craft in the paddock. When she’s not renovating, doing Pilates or being a brilliant Mum, you’ll find Hannah inspiring others to be their best.
Cameron “Spatial” Davey – CTO
If Cameron doesn’t know it, it probably isn’t worth knowing – in life, and in work. Of course, he’s a genius in spatial science who is happiest when he’s geeking out on new technologies that will elevate our proposition, inspire our people and drive efficiency for our clients. He’s also our Chief Technology Officer (CTO), leader of technology-driven ecology, champion of innovation and the architect and brain behind our data innovations. Cameron is a well-travelled purveyor of insights both in spatial science and in life – evidenced through stories he shares with a twinkle in his eye that tells you he’s got some amazing wisdom to share.
The E2M Story
So, how did it all begin?
The E2M journey began after founder and CEO, Scott Baker turned his back on a budding career as an international soccer player, to focus on a long-standing passion for all things ecology.
Upon completion of a degree in Environmental Science, an innate ability to resolve complex problems quickly, led Scott into the consulting space. By contributing positively to projects and growing his skills and experience to focus on quality without compromise, the opportunity to create balanced environmental outcomes for clients became an unwavering focus, which continues to stand firm today.
The LNG boom in Queensland brought with it a peak in workload. Scott identified the opportunity to bring excellence in ecology with a focus on technology to the fore, and formed E2M in 2014
The trajectory that followed took many twists and turns. A team of two in the back of a café in West End, quickly grew to 5, 7, 10 and today three times that.
A need for a new injection of leadership skills and attributes brought a team of 3 new shareholders and owners of the business on board – Cameron Davey (CTO), Hannah Rowan (COO) and Brad Dreis – CSO), each bringing leading edge skills, engaging personalities and a warm and inclusive vibe focused on being people focused and ecology driven.
The young and dynamic culture of the business continues to attract best in class clients, partners and people to join our team for the long-term.
