To continue production of an open cut coal mine located near Moranbah, an extension to the pit and lease application was proposed which will require Commonwealth approval under the EPBC act and an Environmental Authority amendment to the State Government.
Our Services
Our team was engaged to undertake a terrestrial ecology assessment to investigate flora and fauna values including Matters of National Environmental Significance (MNES) and Matters of State Environmental Significance (MSES) for the Project. Terrestrial Services included a desktop assessment, dry and wet season field surveys, spatial data assessments, and ecology and aquatic values assessment report.
The team focused on targeting a number of key species known to be prevalent in the area including koala, greater glider, ornamental snake and squatter pigeon. In addition, targeted threatened flora species included the Poplar Box Grassy Woodland and the Brigalow (Acacia harpophylla dominant and co-dominant) ecological community.
The E2M team were also responsible for engaging and managing the aquatic ecology scope of works and the groundwater dependent ecosystems (GDE) assessment.
