A remote sensing approach to map hairy-flowered love grass across 1,400 ha.
E2M used a novel approach to map the extent of hairy-flowered love grass (Eragrostis trichophora) across the site. Using high-resolution, multi-spectral, aerial imagery captured specifically for the project, E2M developed a machine learning model to map hairy-flowered love grass infestations across a large area. A field survey was undertaken to capture data that was used to train the model and assess its accuracy.
The report was delivered within the allocated budget and the overall accuracy of the remote sensing model was >70%.
E2M developed a combined approach that utilised, machine learning, fuzzy-logic, remotely sensed imagery, high-precision GPS and geographical information systems.
